Sound Spaces explores how sound (and image) can be used to evoke site, space, and place. The web resource is organised as a collection of recordings made in particular spaces and makes created in response to spaces. This collection is offered as inspiration to others, and welcomes additional contributions – please register here.
This website developed from collaboration between Newcastle University, the Foundation for Creative Technology (FACT), and Kinicho, supported by The Creative Exchange.
About The Creative Exchange
The Creative Exchange (CX) is one of four Knowledge Exchange Hubs funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and is a collaboration between Lancaster University, Newcastle University and the Royal College of Art. Our objective is to understand how collaborative explorations of digital public space lead to knowledge exchange, and to develop thinking and tools that enable such creative exchanges to be adopted by academia and industry. To do this, we create collaborative projects which involve arts and humanities academics from across the UK, industry professionals and doctoral researchers.
Kinicho are a creative start-up company who develop immersive 3D audio solutions for a richer, fuller and authentic listener experience.
FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is the UK’s leading media arts centre, based in Liverpool. Offering a unique programme of exhibitions, film and participant-led art projects, we use the power of creative technology to inspire and enrich lives.
